The DCL Quote Builder can now apply an onboard placeholder discount. This has been one of the most frequent requests since the Quote Builder launched, and we are pleased to have it in place.
For anyone newer to Disney Cruise Line, a brief explanation. While guests are sailing, they can put down a placeholder deposit that entitles them to a discount on a future cruise. Once they are home, they come to you to price it. The complication is that the percentage varies by sailing. Most are 10 percent, some are 20 or 25 percent, and some are excluded entirely. Concierge is usually excluded, with a small number of exceptions.
Here is how it works in the Quote Builder:
- Check Disney’s current list of eligible sailings and discount levels. The Quote Builder links to it directly.
- Choose the percentage for the sailing you are quoting. Nothing is pre-selected, by design. You confirm eligibility, and the tool handles the arithmetic.
- The discount applies to the pre-tax cruise fare only. Taxes, fees and port expenses are unchanged.
- The insurance estimate updates to reflect the reduced fare.
A few rules are built in so the quote stays accurate:
- The placeholder discount does not combine with Kids Sail 50 percent, Florida Resident or Military rates, or auto-applied savings. The client receives whichever is better, not both.
- Concierge categories 02B, 03A and 03B receive a flat 10 percent only when you enable it, since those sailings are the exception rather than the rule.
- Copied quote text carries a note that the discount is subject to the client’s placeholder eligibility, so the client sees the condition in writing.
